I can answer your quandry about why NYC has trade shows in February - it's MY fault!! Actually, it's my industry's fault. The hospitality and service industry benefit greatly by having conventions and/or trade shows in "down" months and Feb is definitely a "down" month. ALL of the major Hotel brands hold their national conferences in cities that "need" it. For example - New Orleans is a hot spot over the past few years, to inject some $$$ to the local economy.
